Nope, no fishin’ for me today.  (Actually, I’ve never gone fishing.)  Instead, I just hung out at home with the cats and watched a Yul Brynner a back-to-back movie fest.  Not that I had ever heard of, or was at all interested in seeing, Cast a Giant Shadow or Solomon and Sheba.  But that’s what you do when you play hooky—you just go where the day takes you.  And it took me to Palestine.

This is the end.  My only friends.  The end.  Of my elaborate plans.  The end.  Can’t you picture what could’ve been?  So limitless and free.  Desperately in need . . . of some . . . stranger’s hand.  In my desperate land.  It hurts to set you free.  But you’ll never follow me.  This is, after all, the end.

Having a job that does not require weekend hours leaves me with much more free time than I’ve had in years.  That free time has freed me to read a few of the other blogs out there that chronicle the current state of the legal profession.  A few have included this blog on their blogroll.  Aside: I never instituted a blogroll.  I noted back in Fiftieth Post that I wasn’t much of a blog-reader.  Tides are turning a bit.

When it rains, it pours, eh?  And when it’s shines . . . it’s hot?  Not sure what a corollary to that old adage would be, but today goes down in the books.  The blog broke a few records.

I vacillated this morning for about two hours, going back and forth between going to work to put a few hours in and just staying home and relaxing.  Even though I went in to the court yesterday, after the day I mentioned in Limits and Liens and Loans, I couldn’t get anything done.  My mind wasn’t on my work.  So today, I just said screw it and relaxed today.

Instead of worrying all day, which won’t get anything accomplished anyway, I watched some television, read a book, and updated my blog posts.  And, just around sundown, I hopped in the pool and shot a few pictures from my iPhone of the sun sinking into the Caribbean Sea.

It’s good to rest every now and then.

Today I became a law clerk.  And after 592 days, I am no longer laid-off.

Today started around 3am with a drive to the Philadelphia airport for a 7:30am flight to San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Nearly eighteen hours later, I was in my new apartment on St. Croix.  What a day.
